End Position Control
Introduction
In vehicles such as garbage trucks, forklifts, plows, etc. the end position of the piston must be controlled to optimize the hydraulic system. This can be achieved by using Reed Sensors and magnets that are mounted on the piston shaft.
Due to the fact that the pressure condition in these systems could be up to 400 bars the pistons are made mostly from steel. This means that the magnetic flux lines of the magnet are influenced considerably. However, using strong magnets, coupled with a hermetically sealed Reed Switch, the sensing application can be carried out. Use of stainless steal enclosures for the Reed Switch (no magnetic influence on the magnetic flux) are installed in the wall of the piston. This provides an area where the flux lines can travel without magnetic resistance to actuate the Reed Switches.
In these systems, sensors are required, which can be actuated from the topside such as our MK03 series. Because this is a very specific application mostly customized housings are used. A connector attached directly to the sensor allows easy mounting. The sensor will then be connected with an adapter cable to the corresponding electronic interface.
